Who will independence be for?
The question is not whether Scotland will ever become independent. The question is: for whom would that independence be? Because if the same folk who currently manage our dependency with flags were left in charge, it would simply be another Scotland Ltd, with a fresh logo and the same owners.
Meanwhile, in the schemes and the tenements, something is beginning to stir. The tenants’ unions, the housing struggles, the quiet fury of young workers on zero-hours contracts. There, and not in the Holyrood chamber, lies the seed of a politics worthy of the name. A politics that does not sell you disposable identities but real power over your life.
Because a nation is not a flag. It is who decides over bread, a roof, and honest work. And that, comrade, is still to be won.
