This report presents a comprehensive quantitative analysis of how British media covered Muslims and Islam throughout 2025

More details

Nearly 50% of all articles published about Muslims in the UK (approx. 20,000 pieces) contained varying degrees of bias.  Negative framing is pervasive among the UK media’s coverage of Muslims and Islam.  A distinct cluster of right-wing publications consistently produced the highest amount of biased coverage against Muslims.  Contextual omission is the most widespread form of media failing across all outlets.  GB News has rapidly established itself as one of the most harmful outlets despite its relatively recent launch.  The BBC consistently records the lowest or near-lowest rates of bias among major outlets across all metrics.

Harmful coverage of Islam and Muslims cannot be attributed to media-wide tendencies alone; it reflects identifiable editorial choices.
