The social, economic and political need for Scotland to be an independent country has never before been so graphically apparent. Wow to get there?
The five commitments on which to build independence, as called for by the Independence Group which was set up by ordinary party members to put pressure on the SNP to go further and move faster on independence, are:
1. The setting up of a Constitutional Convention where representatives from across civic Scotland can agree on a democratic, lawful and credible route to Scotland’s constitutional future.
2. A National Independence campaign which would be properly resourced to work alongside the Yes movement to secure a majority for independence.
3. A Government Independence Unit to be tasked with refreshing the prospectus for independence and develop a compelling vision for Scotland’s place in the modern world.
4. The SNP should put independence front and central at the next General Election in order to win a clear and unambiguous mandate for Scotland’s right to choose her future.
5. A clear Delivery Plan for the above commitments with regular reports to the SNP Conference.
